Photographing Willie Mays!

On December 12, 2010, I had the great honor of photographing my biggest childhood sports hero, Willie Mays.

My friend, Patty, works at Copperfield's Books in Petaluma, CA. They were having Mr. Mays for a rare book signing session. Mr. Mays' would be autographing copies his recently published and only authorized biography, Willie Mays: The Life, The Legend. In addition, he would be posing for photographs with kids 12 & under. I was thrilled when Patty asked me if I could do the shoot!

Well over a hundred people lined up around the block for his autograph. Mr. Mays was very gracious to everyone. He was especially good with the kids. Even with some infants and toddlers who were not in a cooperating mood, he had a big smile on his face. He really enjoyed being with the youngsters. Pretty good for a man who's nearly 80. By the way, I shook his had and he is still very strong! All proceeds from the event went to benefit his  The Say Hey Foundation.

All in all, a fun time was had by all - especially me!

photography, design, and big red trucks!

Greg Soiland owns a heavy equipment repair business. It's located in the most beautiful spot you've ever seen for a repair shop. It's right in the middle of the Alexander Valley, which in just north of Healdsburg, California. Surrounding Greg's shop you find the coolest vistas of hills and vineyards.

Greg needed business cards for his budding pursuit. We talked about options and he liked the idea of a card with photos of his repair trucks. Most of his work is done 'on the road' where he and his crew are called out to constructions sites and the like to do the repairs. So, the trucks seemed like a good subject idea.

We took a bunch of images and decided on some that showed the trucks with the Alexander Valley and Mayacama Mountains in the background. We had some issues, though. There was quite a bit of equipment in the background and the concrete foreground was riddled with tire marks.

A little work in Photoshop and InDesign and here's what we came up with:

Imaginative Portraits, Projects, and Design, too!

John Rewind, is an accomplished musician & producer. But, in all his decades in the music biz, he's yet to release a solo album. That is, until now. This year he has released 'Hemi Head', an instrumental (emphasis on the 'mental'), guitar-driven CD covering a wide range of styles and mostly originals, too.

He had a great idea for a cover image featuring him and a multi-exposure effect. We took it in a cool direction and everyone seems to like the results! I ended up doing all of the imagery, artwork, and design.

Check out John's music and that of his clients at Rear Window Music. Rock on!

Pet Photography, too!

This is just an upload from my iPhone but I do do (pun intended) Pet Photography, too. I know how close I am to my pets and animals in general, so having an image of your furry friend next to your desk or in your home is a necessity, I think! This dynamic duo are Lola and Tanzie.

Portraits and Wedding Photography in Santa Rosa, CA

I just finished a Senior Portrait session for Sabrina and her mom, Lee Ann. They live on an large piece of property with a view to die for. I knew we didn't need to go to another location for the shoot since we had plenty of good spots on the property.

I also designed her graduation announcements and invitation to her graduation party. We decided to create the announcement so that we could insert the wallet sized photos into slits at the bottom.

Sabrina and her mom really liked how things turned out!
